Audio/Speech Enhancement & Noise Reduction

Does your recording have annoying and distracting noises that you need removed for a judge or jury, investigator, arbitrator, students, television audience, etc?

Are these sounds getting in the way of your speech and other wanted audio?

buzzing
hissing
humming
tones

Whether you have old technology or new, analog or digital, audio or video, we use some of the best forensic audio software and hardware to assist us in improving the overall sound quality and intelligibility of your recording.

Another possible problem you may be faced with is having a recording with a soft speaker or someone who is too distant to be easily heard. We can often amplify and enhance these recordings so that the speech is both audible and intelligible.

However, when audio & speech enhancement techniques are not enough for your recording to be easily deciphered - when intelligibility is still an issue - our forensic linguists & speech scientists may be able to help decipher the dialog and transcribe it for you. Check out our pages devoted to forensic transcription and speech decoding.

MICROCASSETTES WANTED
(held together with screws rather than glue)

Because of the lack of consumer interest, the manufacture of microcassettes is at an all time low and all microcassettes being sold today are glued together rather than held together with screws.

Please look at your microcassette tapes to see if any have four screw heads showing on one side of the shell. We are looking to buy new or used microcassettes from anyone who has any to sell – whether just one or one hundred.

Audio Transfer & Digitization Services

Don’t let our name fool you. In addition to being a forensic audio company, we're also experts at audio transfer and digitization services. And no – we don’t just transfer the more common audio formats such as micro and standard cassettes to digital file formats and CDs. We accept a variety of obsolete analog and digital formats and can even transfer from digital to analog and analog to analog.

If you happen to have video recordings, we can extract the audio creating a .wav, .mp3 or other digital audio file. We can even record the extracted audio onto an audio cassette or other analog format. Please check out our list of accepted formats.

If you want your recordings transfered to a digital file format you will have the option of downloading the files from our website.

Forensic, Legal, & General Transcription Services

Forensic Linguists & Speech Scientists are available for difficult recordings

Since we handle forensic and general audio, we offer more than just forensic transcription services. If you have an oral history or an audio journal recorded on open reels (reel-to-reel tape) during the 1950s, we would be more than happy to transcribe it for you. We also transcribe other general recordings such as news footage, conferences, dictation, and phone calls.

Of course, we also offer forensic transcription and whether you’re thinking of legal transcription or the transcription of marginally intelligible speech when we say “forensic transcription,” we can take on your project. Our legal transcriptionists have experience with police interviews, depositions, legal correspondence, law lectures, and 911 calls. Our forensic linguists have the necessary credentials for speech decoding and forensic transcription of difficult audio. With them you won’t get just a transcript, but a forensic analysis and report.

Voice Message Retrieval

If you have messages on an answering machine or voice mailbox, we can retrieve it for you. The messages will be made available for download and can also be included on a CD, cassette tape, or other format. In addition, messages can be transcribed, translated, edited, or enhanced. Certificates of authenticity are available for legal or other purposes.

Audio Tape & Optical Disc Repair

We can repair your micro, mini, and standard cassettes, as well as your scratched and scuffed optical discs. This includes CDs, CD-Rs, DVD-RWs, and so-forth. In addition, we offer heat treatment services for recordings suffering from sticky tape/shed syndrome. This is more commonly known as tape baking.
