Audio Enhancement & Noise Reduction Services

Do you have a recording with background noises like car alarms or air conditioning units masking the speaker's words? Maybe one speaker is audible but a second speaker is off in the distance and can barely be heard.

Analog and digital sources accepted
Secure uploading & downloading to/from our website

If you have analog or digital recordings with unintelligible or inaudible speech we may be able to help. We offer speech enhancement and noise reduction services for forensic and general purposes.

Digital files can be securely uploaded to our website. You may also send us your mini, micro, and standard cassette tapes, reel to reel tapes, and even 8-track tapes for enhancement. Once we have completed enhancing the recording, the processed file(s) can be downloaded from our site, or if you prefer, we can burn it to a CD and send it to you.

Mini and microcassette players are manufactured with only headphone sockets which can be used to transfer a recording to your computer, but resulting in inferior quality. Our mini and microcassette players have been specially modified with phono sockets for higher quality lines out. This results in greatly improved sound quality and a reduced need for forensic audio enhancement techniques.

Forensic Recordings

When we use the term "forensic," we mean any recording of an evidentiary nature. It could be a 911 phone call, an undercover recording, an interview with a witness or the interrogation of a suspect, just to mention a few possibilities. Maybe you have a fairly good quality recording except for an electronic buzzing or another irritating noise you would like removed for the jury. Perhaps it is a recording that is quite difficult to decipher. We can apply our forensic audio technology to improve the intelligibility or audibility of the speech.

Forensic Linguists & Speech Scientists

Sometimes even after the application of audio filters, the speech can still be difficult to understand. Close listening and special techniques and knowledge possessed by forensic linguists and speech scientists may still be necessary. If this is the case, you will have the option of having a linguist examine and transcribe your recording.

All of our forensic transcripts and translations are certified at no additional charge. Click here to read about our two methods of certification.

General Speech Recordings

By "general" services we mean anything other than recordings of an evidentiary nature. It could be an oral history, lecture, speech, news video, documentary, or even an important medical dictation that the transcriptionist just can't decipher with the typical transcription equipment. With our forensic audio software and hardware we can address many types of problems. The recording might contain the above mentioned medical dictation that is difficult to understand or it might contain fairly understandable speech - but with background noises you wish to reduce.
