Audio Enhancement & Noise Reduction Services

Has your audio surveillance left you with a poor quality recording?

Did your telephone recording equipment leave you with a horrible buzzing noise?

Was your digital recorder too far from the interviewee?

Whether you have a recording that needs to be improved for a jury, client, or a television audience, you have come to the right place. We have worked on all types of problem audio. Some recordings are fairly intelligible but plagued with buzz, hum, and hiss. Other recordings aren’t so intelligible. The speech may be masked by other sounds and background noises such as traffic, horns, motors, and alarms. Another common problem is that of distant or quiet speakers.

These however, are the types of problems our audio engineers have experience with and are often able to improve.

Forensic Recordings

When we use the term "forensic," we mean any recording of an evidentiary nature. It could be a 911 call, an undercover recording, wiretap, suspect interrogation, radio communication, or a voicemail, just to mention a few possibilities.

General Recordings

General recordings include oral histories, documentaries, video diaries, business conferences, news footage, dictation, speeches, sermons, lectures, phone calls, and much more.

Mini & Microcassettes

Mini and microcassette players are manufactured with only headphone sockets which can be used to transfer a recording to your computer, but resulting in inferior quality. Our mini and microcassette players have been specially modified with phono sockets for higher quality lines out. This results in greatly improved sound quality and a reduced need for forensic audio enhancement techniques. (See photo to the left.)

Forensic Linguists & Speech Scientists

Sometimes even after the application of audio filters, the speech can still be difficult to understand. Close listening and special techniques and knowledge possessed by forensic linguists and speech scientists may still be necessary. If this is the case, you will have the option of having a linguist examine and transcribe your recording.

All of our forensic transcripts and translations are certified at no additional charge. Click here to read about our two methods of certification.

Audio and Video Sources Welcomed

We accept a large variety of audio and video formats for enhancement. You can ship us your tapes and discs including microcassettes, reels, MiniDiscs, video 8, digital VHS or regular VHS tapes, or you can easily upload digital file formats such as .wav, .dss, .avi, and .mpeg. Analog and Digital Sources Accepted

Digital files can be securely uploaded to our website. You may also send us digital and analog tapes for enhancement such as DAT, microcassettes, standard cassettes, and reels. Once we finish enhancing your recording you'll have the option of downloading the digital file from our site or you may request that it be burned to a CD or included on a flash drive and shipped to you.

You can send us your tapes and minidiscs or upload digital files as large as 10GB to us. If your file is larger than 10GB, the file will either have to be split into multiple parts or sent to us on media large enough to hold it such as a Blu-ray disc, flash drive, or hard drive.
